This set-up is used to evaluate the photoelectrocatalytic activity of new materials for water splitting. It consists of a 1000W Xe lamp as the light source as well as a filter wheel and monochromator for selecting different incoming wavelengths from the solar spectrum. This light can then be directed into a photoelectrochemical cell equipped with gas inlets and sampling ports allowing the gaseous products to be measured using gas chromatography. PhD student Peter Vesborg and Post-doc Billie Abrams use this photocatalysis set-up to measure the activity of new photocatalysts and characterize them photochemically.
